How to copy images to clipboard or save from google docs

We use often google docs for various purposes, from office works to development or for taking notes and sharing them. Often we use images in google docs, and also we need to retrieve the images back from the docs to clipboard or save them in our computer. Few days back, I was trying to copy an image from a document, but I was not finding a very good way to do that. I had a look on the internet, found various solutions but I was just looking for a simple way, doing like CTRL+C or right click and save image in local.

Here are some of the ways that I have found:

Download as webpage:

  • You can go to File -> Download -> Webpage (.html zipped). This will download the document as a webpage in your computer.
  • Extract the zip file and open the .html file from your local. There you can find the image.
  • Right click and copy image.

Save to keep

  • You can select and right click on the image -> view more actions -> Save to Keep
  • A small popup will appear from keep, with image you have selected
  • then just right click and copy/save the image.

The best way

There are also some other ways that we can extract the image from google docs. But here is the best way I have found:

  • Triple click on the image you want to copy,
  • then press shift + right click
  • you will see a context menu will come, where you can copy image or save it.

This trick was very helpful to me. For the other ways, it was taking several steps to do the simple things, which doesnt seem very convenient if you work with images in google docs a lot.

Please let me if you have used it so or found this trick useful. Feel free to have your comments down here or give a love to this article.

Have a great day.

Hi, Thanks for posting these methods. I was also stumped by Google when using Google Chrome to try and copy an image from Google Docs to Microsoft Paint. Unfortunately your best way and selecting copy image from the context menu did not work for me. Building off your methods, here is what I found to work the best: Double-click the image Shift+right-click the image Select "Open image in new tab" Switch to the new tab Press Ctrl+C
